When’s Lillie gonna get here?
Baby Lillie is due September 14th but when will she actually get here? We would love, love, love to hear your guesses.
Please post your guesses as comments below. Note that you must log in to leave comments which means that you must register at the site. To make your guess as accurate as possible, here are some helpful statistics:
- Only about 5% of babies are actually born on their due date (September 14th)
- About 8% of babies are born overdue, past 42 weeks in the belly (Sept 27th or later)
- Around 10% of babies come before 38 weeks (That would make Lillie an August baby)
- A hefty 80% of babies come within 10 days of their due date (Anytime between September 4th and September 24th)
Facts about Lillie specifically:
- She’s said to be a “healthy baby”, with neither Lillie or Becky having any history of complications.
- Becky has already gained the allotted 35lbs, and is huge.
- Becky has been experiencing Braxton-Hicks contractions
- Lillie shows both periods of intense kicking and periods of rest long enough to cause a trip to the hospital
- The nursery is ready
And in case you need a little more information before you can pick a day:
- Monday’s child is fair of face
- Tuesday’s child is full of grace
- Wednesday’s child is full of woe
- Thursday’s child has far to go
- Friday’s child is loving and giving (Sophie)
- Saturday’s child works hard for his living (Becky & Shad)
- And the child that is born on the Sabbath day is bonny and blithe and good and gay
OK, so pick your day and leave a comment telling us what day you chose. Who knows, there might be a Snickers bar prize in it for you. And of course, guess right and you will forever be able to tell people at swanky cocktail parties, “Hey, you know, I correctly guessed my granddaughter’s/neice’s/cousin’s/friend’s baby’s birthdate. No, really, I’m being serious, she came on the day that I said she would.” And bragging rights like that are worth more than any vending machine delicacy, right?
To kick off the guesses– Shad chose the 5th of September & Becky chose the 3rd.

I’m sticking with the 14th. The chance that she’s born on the due date, while only being 5% is still the best chance. Think about it. 80% within 10 days. Thats 80% for 20 days, which is only 2.5% chance per day. The chance she’s born on her due date rather than any specific other date within 10 days in two times greater.
Plus I was a thursday child and want her to be a thursday child too.
The 8th of September is the day.
Sophie picked September 13th. She thinks that the baby is “going to knock one day early”.
She will be born on September 11th just for her mothers birthday.
Lillie will come September 12th, having just missed Becky’s birthday.
She will be just like me- Monday, August, Virgo. Therefore she will be born on Aug 28th. (But she might want to come later as i need to finish her quilt.)
Lillie will come on the full moon–September 7th. (I would have picked September 14th, if Nick hadn’t chosen it already. My birthday falls on the 14th; Noah and Julia were born on the 14th–it’s a good date, but the 7th has merits too).
I say September 10, sounds like the leetle feller is ready to get here. Also that means consecutive birthdays for the family to celebrate.
My guess will go to the 9th of Sept. I think Lillie will be earily, and since all the other days that are earily but within good time are taken the 9th sounds good. This will also make her born on a Saturday like her parents.
Nicolas you’re a smarty. The baby’s Mima once told me all her children were born during a full moon. And since L&D nurses have confirmed this phenomenon to me. I think that Lillie’s Granmolly is right with the 7th. However i can’t pick the same day and the day after is already picked (that’s okay, i predict Becky will have a short labor and delivery anyway). So I pick the 6th. I think Lillie will be extra smart and know the full moon is coming.
I loved all the guesses, here is great grandma Linda’s guess -slightly extended. Veronica is right. It will be Sat 9/9 and, furthermore, I predict baby will arrive around 9 o’clock (maybe am, maybe pm) and there will be a 9 in the birthweight and baby will be 22 inches and have black hair. I can’t wait for the arrival!
Motherhood is a glorious experience and is often filled with trials and tribulations. In light of this, a few extra days of anticipation and suffering would seem to be in order, therefore I opt for the 17th of September.
