The Playhouse
Back in June I decided that the girls needed something to entertain them in the backyard. Becky vetoed the idea of a rope swing, so we settled on building them a playhouse. We enlisted Gromper to help us design it, and settled on 4 foot by 8 foot structure that should last the girls for years. Gromps also played a huge role in the construction and even donated a fair amount of lumber he had lying around towards the project. We built it at Molly and Jon’s house to keep it a secret from the girls, then disassembled it and moved it to our house. There, Becky took charge of painting it before we put it all together again. The girls seem to just love it, and play in it all the time. We still have a number of finishing touches that never quite got finished, but the basic structure has just been great. Here are some photos of the process.

Early assembly. Everything went together more smoothly than expected, but it was still a lot of work.

The girls first get to see it. It was going to just show up in the backyard as a surprise, but I wanted the girls to know where I was going all the time, so eventually they got to see it at Molly and Jon's house. They were pretty darn excited.
